Ocean - My Paradise

Like a treasure chest
You hold billions of riches worth discovering
From the sandy sea shores to the sea weeds of various sizes and colours
You make a home for your inhabitants

Like a castle
You build the best and most beautiful coral homes for your inhabitants
From the shallow to the deep you keep it all in perfect shape
You make a beautiful home for a kingdom of fish and shells

Like the earth
You hold the best riches worth discovering
And you make life a lot easier for the kingdom of mammals like me
You are a life saver

Like a mother
You bring out of your depths the best pearls from your Clam Jewelry Shop for my daughters wedding
You bring out the best leather belt from your Shark Factory for my sons first job interview
You bring out the best protein menu for my family's feast and reunions from you best Fish Kitchen
You are like a mother so focused on making everyone happy

Like a doctor
You bring the best first aid kit with the right medicines
A young girl finds healing during her menstruation when she comes to you
A pregnant woman finds it relaxing to exercise in your waters before delivery
A family on an island turns to you for everything coz you're like everything to them

You're like a mirror
Life is beautiful with you in it
Coz you make the best reflections of sunrises
And best endings of sunsets
That gives us a glimpse of heaven

You're like a highway
You're the greatest treasure to a coastal
You connect islands, nations and continents
You make life very adventurous
You're the best thing that has ever existed

You're my paradise
You're my home
You're my kitchen
You're my way to adventurous destinations

Published by Ples Singsing

Ples Singsing is envisioned to be a new platform for Papua Niuginian expressions of creativity, ingenuity and originality in art and culture. We deliberately highlight these two very broad themes as they can encompass the diverse subjects, from technology, medicine and architecture to linguistics, music, fishing, gardening et cetera. Papua Niuginian ways of thinking, living, believing, communicating, dying and so on can cover the gamut of academic, journalistic or opinionated writing and we believe that unless we give ourselves a platform to talk about and discuss these things in an open, free and non-exclusively academic space that they may remain the fodder for academics, journalists and other types of writers alone. New social media platforms have given every individual a personal space to share their feelings and ideas openly, sometimes without immediate censure. The Ples Singsing writer’s blog would like to provide another more structured platform for Papua Niuginian expressions in written, visual and audio formats while also providing some regulation of the type and content of materials to be shared publicly.
